Brief biography of Mohammad A Kamal

Dr Mohammad A Kamal started his intellectual journey after winning an award of Ph.D. in 1999 which became ultimately an outcome of further interaction of scientific activities. At the same time he was also inspired by his passion for idealistic values, which became his source of motivation to create pieces of classical deep philosophical poetry.  A significant segment of his research career, 10 years, was spent within the Department of Biochemistry, King Saud University, elucidating the interaction of various chemicals and drugs (both anti-cancer and Alzheimer's agents) on the key enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which is fundamental to nervous system function and life. Alternatively Kamal’s overall biochemical research output had culminated in more than 58 publications in internationally respected journals, and 49 abstracts in international conferences. The research was pivotal in supporting the development of the novel anti-Alzheimer's agents from the laboratory to the clinic via collaboration with Dr Nigel (Chief of Laboratory of Neurosciences in USA). Kamal had migrated to Australia after an award of a prestigious U2000 Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2000 by the University of Sydney, School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences. This three years highly competitive award supported 15 Fellowships from some 300 applicants through the world and funded his research on “Inhibition of amido phosphoribosyltransferase by new antifolates: Design and mechanism of action of purine antagonists". Recently, he collaborated in one of the molecular biological project of type 2 diabetic-Alzheimer’s Disease research as a visiting scholar at the University of Technology Sydney. He participated in numerous symposium, seminars and workshops and also honoured as a member of various scientific societies as well. His biography has been published in "WHO'S WHO IN THE WORLD" in 1999. He also participated in various community oriented activities. Kamal had travelled in countries across the globe experiencing a new curve and a turn shaping his life’s journey as he encountered a board range of vibrant and unique lifestyles, cultures of science, art that each country had to offer to an highly articulate, cosmopolitan individual. In the recent years his professional interest has taken a new turn into the cut-edging field of clinical sciences focused on human anatomy and physiology for better health services to humanity particularly in lympoedema research and teaching.
